Free Fire Review 2026: The Lightest Battle Royale — Still Fun?

Free Fire proves a game does not need to be pretty to be popular. In Indonesia and Brazil it is still the first battle royale millions try — mostly because it runs on cheap phones.

Performance on budget hardware

I tested on a 2 GB RAM device: 30-40 fps stable on Smooth, zero crashes across 30 matches, loading under 20 seconds. PUBG Mobile and CODM cannot match that.

Gameplay

Matches run 10 minutes with 50 players. Bermuda is still the most balanced map. Active-skill characters add variety — Alok and Chrono genuinely change how you play, though some feel overtuned.

The problems

The 2026 visuals look old: flat textures, stiff animation, simple character models. The lobby is stuffed with event banners, spins and notifications. If noisy UI bothers you, this is exhausting.

Verdict

On limited hardware, Free Fire is still the sensible pick. On a strong phone, PUBG Mobile or CODM give you more depth. 8.0/10.
