Black Myth: Wukong is one of the biggest surprises of recent years. It takes Journey to the West and turns it into a hard, fast and deeply confident action RPG.
Combat
Three stances switch mid-fight: Smash for damage, Pillar for reach, Thrust for piercing strikes. Add boss transformations and immobilise spells and the depth matches the soulslike genre while staying easier to learn.
Boss design
This is the game’s core strength. Every boss has readable patterns and a second phase that changes the rhythm. A few are unfairly aggressive, but most feel fair once you read them.
Performance
On an RTX 3060 at medium, the game holds 55-60 fps at 1080p. Ray tracing tanks the frame rate. On PS5 the performance mode is far more comfortable.
Verdict
If you love action RPGs with demanding bosses and a strong Asian aesthetic, this is essential. 9.0/10.
