F2P does not mean no five-stars. With proper planning you can get one or two five-stars a year without spending anything.
How many free primogems per patch?
An active player earns roughly 8,000-12,000 primogems per patch (six weeks), depending on events and exploration. That is 50-75 pulls. With pity at 90 and soft pity from 74, you need about two patches per guaranteed five-star.
Pull priority
Never pull on the weapon banner as F2P. Weapons are strong, but a new character adds more value by opening team compositions. Aim for one character every two patches and save when a banner does not appeal.
Common mistakes
First, spreading resources across too many characters. Second, skipping Abyss out of laziness — that is 600 primogems per cycle. Third, ignoring events that hand out large primogem rewards.
A three-month plan
Month one: finish the Archon Quest and unlock every waypoint. Month two: push Abyss to at least 9 stars and clear daily events. Month three: explore a new region to 100 percent. At that pace you will always have enough for your next target.
